Now I believe these two Futuremark benchmark programs really sum up the performance of these two gaming machines. Let's look at the 3Dmark2001 SE results first. Here the Core 2 Duo E6700 system using the Radeon X1950XTX is an incredible 55% faster than the overclocked Athlon64 3800+ system using the overclocked GeForce 7900GS graphics card. That said, without the overclocking the Core 2 Duo E6700 system was 88% faster than the budget Athlon64 3800+ computer.
Moving on to the 3Dmark2003 which looks more at graphics card performance rather than overall system performance, like 3Dmark2001. Here you can see that the results are much closer, the Core 2 Duo E6700 system is just 12% faster than the overclocked Athlon64 3800+ system at 1600x1200. Nevertheless, the overclocked Athlon64 3800+ and GeForce 7900GS still managed to boost performance by 24%, just as they did in 3Dmark2001.
