I have finished step 2, and am working on Window's Updates now, as it stands it is saying "Downloading Updates" but is reading 0KB total, and 0%. It has been running for about 10 minutes or so now.

I am used to window's updater not showing it's progress I will keep you updated though.

19 of the important updates succeeded, however the one that failed was Windows 7 Service Pack 1

I am attempting to install it again now after the original reboot for those other 19 updates.

Service pack 1 has failed to install, this is the error reported :

    Windows Update Error 800B0100

Window's help is suggesting I use "The System Update Readiness Tool" to fix this issue. I'll wait for your instructions though before proceeding.

Thank you so much for your help Broni, once I get my next paycheck in I am going to be sure to donate to you. So that you may continue to help people :3

A final question if I may though, I have 37 optional updates, 34 of which are language packs.
One is for IE9, is it necessary to update IE for overall system security? I personally use Firefox exclusively.
Another is named "Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2709981)

It doesn't matter which browser you use. IE is still on your computer so it has to be kept up to date.

Personally I install all updates even optional.
Avoid any updates for non-Microsoft items (say video card).

Again thank you for all the help, and very prompt as well. If I encounter future problems I will come crawling back like a dog who knows he did something wrong.
