10 PC Games You Should Check Out These Holidays

After reading all of that I think a BIG thing hasn't been mentioned in the howzz1854 vs ghasmanjr fight.

Why the HELL would you pre-order something when you were NOT certain what your pre-order contained? As far as I'm concerned you pre-ordered not even understanding exactly what you get out of it, and although the simple one picture adverts may have been confusing, you probably should have read the description, I did, I understood exactly what I was getting and pre-ordered, You also cannot use the excuse of "ooowww but I didn't know it meant that" as a moan to EA, if your expecting them to give you Premium now after a bit of a moan that's a bit of a stretch, I know if I was boss of ANY company I would say no as your using very little to base your argument off. I've also seen your links and googled it myself, all that does prove is the amount of people who don't read descriptions but I can assure you, that is a very small percentage of people complaining compared to the amount that pre-ordered and also remember, angry people complain on the internet, satisfied people don't usually post that they are satisfied.

while I do agree with you to a certain extend, but that's just the thing, those of us who pre-ordered the game under the original wording thought EXACTLY what we were getting. but under that wording, apparently EA had two different meanings. I am ok with having different meanings, as long as the seller is clear about those definitions, which in this case was not made clear to the 1st phase of pre-order, there were no warnings on the checkout, or the ad page that there were finer means underneath. those of us in the very 1st stage of pre-order thought very clearly and simply that we were getting only one thing, Premium. take the color of orange, if you told what you were getting is the color orange without any stipulation or detailed emphasis on anything beyond it, A REASONABLE PERSON would simply think he/she is simply getting the color orange. but if someone were to tell you later on that there's a sub category of range, and the orange you were getting is actually a peach orange, or a magenta orange, while the whole time you're just thinking, but I thought I was just getting a ****ing orange color. that's kind of like what's happening here.

now yes, EA later came out and changed the wording, and revised their ad. but it doesn't change the fact that there were those customers that were affected prior to the change. now I am not saying there're also those of you out there who simply knew exactly that you would be getting a magenta orange, or a peach orange color. but from a reasonable person stand point, many simply just think ORANGE. this is why there're federal guidelines out there setup so that an average reasonable person would be well informed while shopping. the issue tramples on a grey area where FTC defines enough information must be easily available to the consumer during the shopping phase, and if enough people were to easily confused or mis-informed by a generalized statement, it's a potential false advertisement; which the newly revised slogan is NOT. but the original slogan, advertisement and promotion was.

I get where your trying to come from, I really honestly do, but fact of the matter is in the description it clearly says what the package comes with, nothing can change that and I pre-ordered BF4 pretty much as soon as it allowed me in Origin and I remember reading the description which listed the package contents which does not mention Premium membership anywhere, in fact they hadn't even explained what premium was going to like in BF4 at that stage.

Car sales are similar, or at least in the UK, the adverts are all like "hey you get bluetooth and uprated alloy's and a color screen for this low price" blah blah blah but when you go the show room you look through the brochure and realize that the advert was a lie and correct, sure you can get those things on it but no model they produce has all of them on at once, you have to pay extra or get some ridiculously expensive model to qualify. What people did here was not read the brochure, the bit with all the details in and what you do and do not get with it.

When you went to pre-order through Origin you get taken to the product page first which is essentially the brochure, if you didn't read it and just threw money at EA then you ... I just found my email from EA when I pre-ordered, It says:

Battlefield 4™ Digital Deluxe 1010959 £45.82
Battlefield 4™ China Rising Expansion Pack 1004841 £0.00
Exclusive Battlefield 4™ Beta 1010966 £0.00

So it even listed what you get, I don't see any Premium membership there, do you?

THAT's the problem, and THAT's what I've been trying to communicate. for some of you, yours actually said "China Rising Epansion Pack". but for some of us, it only said "Premium Expansion Pack".

and no.... no where throughout the checkout process was there any sign of clarification, link, or so called Brochure. it was just Orange, not maybe orange, or could be some kind of orange, it was just it, not even a "see description for details like you would on a car commercial". yes, if I were you, and ordered the game in your shoes, I wouldn't have any problem AT ALL, but for some of us, that was NOT the experience. EA only later on changed the wording, changed their ad, changed their promotion, changed their order page, changed their check out cart to reflect the changes.

But it still says "DLC" Premium membership was never "DLC" it was a pre-paid membership to unlock extra's for the main game NOT DLC.

Literally don't care how you try to swindle it Premium MEMBERSHIP is NOT the same as Premium Edition EXPANSION PACK DLC.

The fact that the wording "DLC" is in your receipt email from EA is enough for EA to say you can't get any compensation (or deserve any) as it is your own fault for thinking "membership" is the same as "Expansion Pack DLC".

I think you'll find those of us who were in that category aforementioned, don't agree with you.

Premium is just series of DLCs, according to the previous iterations. and the fact that the word Premium was used together with DLC, which contrary to your case, says a lot about the shadiness of the marketing that went into at EA.

again, I am not naive, I don't go shop for a car and expect to get a fully loaded vehicle while paying the base price, no one is that stupid, frankly you don't see cases like that in the market place. but in your case, and many others, your case was clear cut, well informed, while some of us got caught in the gap of shady marketing were NOT informed. I would have no problem if I busted out my credit card and saw exactly what you saw. NOT a problem at all. but in this case, some of us fell in the crack of the marketing ambiguity before EA made the change.

So you "Busted Out" the Credit Card on a product you didn't fully understand what you got in the package? You felt it was shady and To top things off, you actually paid money for the deluxe edition expecting a (if you look at past history) a £40 membership for a tenner?

for someone who preaches about reading and details you sure don't do a lot of it.

if you actually did read what I wrote, I stated those of us in the aforementioned category did think what we ordered was what we ordered based on the initial advertisement.

I honestly hope EA give you nothing, if you genuinely thought you were going to get a £40 addon for £10 (this is EA, I'll repeat that... EA!) you are, well, crazy :/

that's where you're wrong, reporting the incident to the federal agency is not the same as wanting something. it's merely pointing out the flaw that went into the marketing. the assumption that a big company can get away with vague marketing statement is bad for consumers.

But the reason your reporting it is because you thought the advert genuinely said you'd get premium membership for the extra £10?

Seems you're now clutching onto the part where you don't believe EA will part with a previously-$40-priced item for $10?

Crazier things happen: here in AUS, games were $100-110. Now, post-dollar-fall, all new releases are $68 or less!

I would of went with CoD Gosts, but even CoD gamers are saying its not great, so I'm glad I didnt' get it, but to their credit, it is actually playable.

Meh, seems to depend who you ask, one of my friends who's a CoD fanatic not only had issues with the game crashing out when it tried to load a level but if he by chance got into one he got really bad lag.

Agreed on BF4 though, they really need to sort it out, it is such a shame they rushed it, Dice need to stand up to EA and tell them "No we are not rushing it, if you won't play ball we'll find another publisher".

I'm sure there is another publisher out their that would take them on :)

Dice is EA, DICE is completely owned by EA, they are a in house developer for EA, so they are pretty much EA's little engine ***** atm. They make frostbite 3 and work on BF series while distributing FB engine to other studios for there titles. They could leave and do what respawn did but good luck on that and they have to leave BF with EA (since EA owns the franchise).

Lets all have a hug. Aim your frustration at the evil guys who changed everything :)

Back on top, I've just bought myself a new gaming rig as I cannot be bothered with all the crap that comes with 'Next Gen' Consoles but I must say, the PC gaming market has completely changed. Its almost void of all life :( I was really sad when I tried to look for demos or trials of all these new up and coming games...

I guess the worlds just got into a habit of paying for stuff up front without getting the test drive. That sucks...

The only game that I have, play and looks the part with the system spec I have, is Hawkin.
I can hear my crossfire setup crying as it attempts to play it with everything at Ultra. But that's probably the most intensive game, that looks the part, that I can see... Theres too much bad rep on 'existing franchises' and how they promote their next gen titles that use last gen technology, badly I might add.

I hope I can get the likes of Titanfall and Destiny, not a crappy port from a console, for my machine in the near future. I'd be quite happy with that. :)
