    I don't think so. :)

I don't think I'm “A strong supporter or defender of a cause” lol :haha:

We were talking about Hyper threading technology on PIV CPU's :)

Oh yeah! My Sony actually has HT on it. As if that's on subjects as well. Although, what I find awefully strange is that it's a 3.6GHz rated at 5.-GHz!

Strange that he didn't notice before that he had a hyperthreading cpu. You wouldn't think it would come with it disabled.

Has Johny2008 been figured out yet?
  10. cfitzarl TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 2,521   +9

Yep, his posts are gone now. Maybe his last computer didn't figure it out. I have had strange things happen with processor recognition before. You never know what companies will do though. It could have been an accident.

    In a word yes.

Hyper threading is basically having one processor with two shared threads right?
  15. wolfram TechSpot Paladin Posts: 2,605   +9

Yeah, windows thinks that you have two processors, and it assigns a thread to each "processor".
  16. cfitzarl TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 2,521   +9

That's what I thought. I wasn't used to task manager on my Sony (not mine) because it showed me 2 processor usage bars.
  17. wolfram TechSpot Paladin Posts: 2,605   +9

Just like dual core CPU's. When you see those two CPU usage bars @ full 100%, then you're fully utilizing the dual core CPU power, and at the same time, your power bill keeps growing & growing ($$$$$$) lol, especially with Pentium D's :)
  18. cfitzarl TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 2,521   +9

I almost went with a Pentium D over my current system, but I decided that that the AMD would perform better in gaming, so I went with that. (upside down exclamation)Esta bien!
  19. wolfram TechSpot Paladin Posts: 2,605   +9

That would be your worst mistake. Muy mal!
But of you like to encode video, or something like that, Intel CPU's normally win. But if you only like to game (like me :)), then AMD Athlon's perform way better than any Pentium processor.
    Unfortunately, Core 2 Duo's kick Athlon's *** by a very long shot :(

That's what I thought. It definintly would be muy mal :D . Estoy tomando la clase de Español y comprendo lo qué dice! :)
