I have been trying to install the most recent windows updates but I keep getting errors... The update downloads fine, but the install is a different story. I'm trying to install service pack 1.

You don't have to install Service Pack 1. You can go straight for Service Pack 2.
If any problems, I need to know exactly what's happening.

Whenever I go to updates and search for an update to install it comes up with service pack 1, is there a way to completely bypass that and install service pack 2?

Excellent, thank you. When I tried to d/l and install, it said that I had to install service pack 1 before updating to service pack 2. So I used the same link to download service pack 1, that was successful, then I followed that up with service pack 2. Both updates were successful.

ugh, turned my computer off last night and it started installing automatic updates. Turned the computer on just now and it finished the updates. I then logged in and I'm getting the same thing over and over again... helP!

    At this point....

In this forum, we make sure, your computer is free of malware and your computer is clean :)
Because the access to malware forum is very limited, your best option is to create new topic about your current issue, at Windows section.
    You'll get more attention.

    Good luck!

okay, thanks I appreciate your help. It's just odd, I remember telling you that I had 11 GB free, I just checked the C:/ and I had 2.9 GB free. How in the world is that possible?

I'm not sure. You installed Service Packs and some updates recently.
You may need bigger drive as well.
