Just do what you can and post those logs please.

    Step 1

OK ... I have things going on so I'm just going to post step by step.

DL, installed and ran Avira Free ... here is the log

After saving the log from step one I noticed this log on my desktop ... call me an ***** but i have no idea where it came from and I don't remember being asked to save or anything ... I'm posting it just in case it is relevant...

(I posted Step 1 including pasting the log but it isn't here.... yet)

    Step 2...

    DL, install, run TFC...

This kept locking up on me but it appears to have cleaned ... I rebooted manually.

no log to my knowledge ... ?

    Step 3 ...

    DL, Install, Malware Bytes ...

    Having a problem here ...

    so far ...

the first install ended with an unexpected shut down ...

restarted in safe mode .... second install ended with an unexpected shut down ... in safe mode

the third attempt appeared to have installed but won't run ... I get this error ... which took me like 20 minutes to write down because the window flashes so fast ...

    Still working on this ...

I have uninstalled in safe mode ... permanently deleted the installer ... I will be downloading again in safe mode and trying again ...

I did see something earlier about changing the name ... I will try that as well ...

The following are the only logs requested in the sticky:

Include the following logs into your next reply (copy & paste them) -- further indications below:
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
    GMER log
DDS logs: both DDS.txt and Attach.txt

    ==

Please try this version of malwarebytes: Click the link here.
Save it on your desktop. You'll see it will have a random name, and will look similar like this:
Doubleclick on it, so it will extract the files and will start Malwarebytes automatically.
In case the installer (random named file) won't run either, rename it to EXPLORER.EXE and try again.

When Malwarebytes opens, click the "Update" tab FIRST and select to check for updates in order to get the latest updates.
In case Malwarebytes doesn't open, search for the folder mbam-installer on your desktop, open it and doubleclick the file winlogon.exe which will be present in there. This should launch Malwarebytes.

Then perform a scan and let it remove what it found. Reboot afterwards (important).
After reboot, post the malwarebytes log together with a new HijackThislog.

    can't get to malwarebytes.org ...
  11. crunchie Malware Helper Posts: 761

Ok, but what about DDS and Gmer?
  12. misschievous Newcomer, in training Posts: 53

OK ... finally got Malwarebytes to run... downloaded on another computer and burned to disc then loaded on this one.... had to run in safe mode and change the .exe file to explorer.

    Here is the log ...

the redirects and associated popups are gone ... I can now get to malwarebytes.org ...

however ... the additional or ghost iexplorer processes still open and everytime i open iexplorer it asks if it want to restore the last session or go home.

See if you can update MBA-M and run a full scan. Post the log if successful.

    ==

Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE
    • You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
    • Physically disconnect from the internet.
    • Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
    • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply.
    • Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

    Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

    Run Combofix ONCE only!!

sorry I am still being redirected ... I did get Mbam updated and I'm running now ...

It wouldn't update the other day ... duh ... probably because I was in safemode without networking

Ok. The MBA-M log shows that no action was taken against what was found. Is that correct, or did you post the wrong log? The files found need to be removed.

Also, I am not seeing the combofix log there.
  20. misschievous Newcomer, in training Posts: 53

oh i hit remove after i saved the log ... sorry.

combofix removed quite a few objects ...

it said it made a log and shut down normally ... but i can't find the log where it said it would be?

it said it would be @ c:\combofix.txt
