i brought a western digital 80gig hd because the one before died, when i installed xp, the screen where you select the partition shows up as only 32200mb or something like that, when i start windows i see my C: drive is abotu 30gigs

do i have to update bios?, did i set up the jumpers wrong?, did western digital screw me over?

help, thanks

what OS are you running
xp go to
start
settings
control panel
administrative tools
manage
disk management
should see your drive here
aslo can look under system

i currently have it as the primary slave, that shouldnt be a problem

in the bootup i see LBA ATA 100 33822 RAM at bank, i go to my hd properties and i see partition as master boot record, do u guys see any problems?

also in the bios for HDD SMART compatibility, do i select disabled or enabled?

yah i see it it says 31.84gigs capacity and 29.84gigs of free space
