    Hi,
I have aquired a computer to get my mother on to the internet. It has windows 95 installed.
Basicly the problem is that it wont connect to any other ISP than AOL. For others it just dials up but says it 'cannot connect to remote computer'

    Any ideas whats wrong?
    Many thanks

    Welcome to TechSpot

That computer is almost antique, with W95 on it!
Do everybody a favour, and install Windows 98SE on it instead. It probably won't take anything "stronger" than that. W98SE needs at least 64MB memory, better is 128 or 256. No more than that!

Sort out the drivers for that PC from the manufacturers of the motherboard, graphics card, modem and any other cards, by downloading them from the respective websites.

Then wipe the old HD and freshly install W98SE, with all the drivers you found, and don't let AOL get NEAR that PC. You can now sign up to any ISP you like, wether dialup or cable.

    CAnt do that im afraid.
64 MBs like a dream for that box.
Isnt there someting software wise I can do to make it connect?
