A Decent Computer for a Good Price

I have a little problem. Whenever I am not using my computer, it goes into stand-by mode. When in stand-by mode, my internet turns on to stand-by mode also, so when I am downloading things, I can't let my PC idle for a half hour.
So anyways, I was wondering, is there any way to make my PC not go into stand-by mode?
Thanks in advance :D

Go to the Control Panel, and then to "power options"

Make sure that all the options there say "never".
That should do the trick :)

haha yeah too many responses if you ask me, they are not even relevant to the topic anymore. Tenko, I say if you need more help you start a new thread.

I agree with sellmesanity. You'll get more advice, with a new thread when you need further help.

Regards :)

Yeah I can see that. The rest of the people don't want to bother to read everything to answer my stuff lol.
Jeez, 312 replies though, this forum is like the super-helper-deluxe forum lol.

You have a fast HDD :)

WOW. I didnt know that, it is a western digital model IDE on an Intel 845GV mobo, spinning at 7200 rpm...ive seen faster. It could be my new sstuff like my 768 MB ram...

Well, a 7200RPM drive should be fast, especially if it has a 8MB cache.
Also, good RAM amount should help a lot :)

I agree with sellmesanity and wolfram, it`s time to put this thread to bed lol.

sw123: See HERE for info on hard drive cache. If you need further help, please open a new thread in the appropriate forum.

Thread closed.
