Acer Laptop help with internet

    HI, ok I am out of town visiting family and borrwoing thier computer. It is terribly slow and they dont have WIFI. they have a high speed internet just a freakishly slow computer. and i was wondering if i could hook up my fairly new (refurbished) Acer lap top to their internet thingy (the little black box with the flashy lights on it) all i have is my laptop and battery charger (my battery sucks on this thing) what do i need to do is it even possible or am i stuck with a freakishly slow computer??
    to anyone what can help thanks srry i dont know much about computers so you will have to be verry descriptive and such l0l.

    Swap the internet connection from their laptop to yours, its usually a blue cable (lan cable) or in some cases a USB connection.
