well once again Chef you are behind the times. The i7-580 is the new APU collaboration between Nvidia and Intel.

"that's very suspicious" and probably a little bit bias as well.

Just an update on the post earlier in the thread that DM7 touched on.

If you're running a BD system and you're getting a 101 or 124 stop error while playing Gaming Evolved titles (Shogun2 as DM7 linked, Dues Ex:HR and possibly DoW II amongst others):

Keep a weather eye out for BIOS updates for your board...seems there is some microcode fix in the works ( most likely involving raising voltage by the sounds of it).

Hardware France are supposedly keeping tabs on the situation, and Steam Forums might shed some light for non-French speakers.

To be honest I agree with you here, I've already got a seller on alot of the stuff in my PC which I should get by the end of November.

I was thinking going x79 next and be done with it, hopefully should last 3 years+

I was kind of thinking along the same lines. My Q9400/P45 rig is getting a little long in the tooth so it is down between P67/Z68 and a 2600K with upgrade to 3600K in a few months (Z77 boards don't look to have any more functionality than Z68), or go with X79 - a bit overkill, but the extra lanes and PCI-E 3.0 will allow me to get some true benchmarks done, as the P67/Z68/Z77's are still going to be resource constrained (shared PCI-E bandwidth with I/O )
If Ivy Bridge-E looks like a drop-in upgrade for Sandy Bridge-E then I'd definitely go X79. My present X58 rig has been a great performer - it started out with a C0 step i7 920, quickly moved to a 950, and I'll likely snap up a cheapish 980/990/Xeon hexcore once SB-E is released - I'm hoping to get around 5 years use out of the platform.
A selection of X79 boards for you to have a gander at:
    [Asus X79 Deluxe], [MSI X79A-GD65], [EVGA X79 Classy],[ASRock X79 Extreme7]
(I should have grabbed a copy of the video featuring the Asus X79 Sabertooth and Rampage IV Extreme before it was taken down)
  6. well it's a stink day in the yellow snow when an 8 core CPU can't beat the snot out of a 4 core

I was looking forward to going upto the 8150 but I think I'll just stick with my old x4 940

  7. Actually this doesn't help Intel consumers much. With Bulldozer's mediocre performance, Intel has no real reason to drop prices on any of their cpu's, save the 1st gen I7 series. Intel is pretty much in competition with itself.
  8. Sorry, that last post was directed at post #16.
  9. Hi all,

Anyone of the above posts, has an 8150 proc. installed and running? Or don´t, and are just loking for benches? And we all know that those benchmarks are not optimized to work with Fx proc. neither is W7. What i don´t understand is such a bad will to AMD, without the pratical evidence of having it installed and experiment it at an real life scenario.
To me, it will be my next upgrade (Fx-8150 at stock speed/Sabertooth/Corsair 16 G ram @ 1866/GTX 560 Ti). Changing from Core2Duo E8400 and Intel!

    Cheers.

If I were you I'd spend some time looking into component compatibility
  11. I agree! I hope AMD would catch up and be able to produce high valued products... :D
  12. there are more resistors... maybe it is partly the cause of the increase in power usage... wouldn't it produce more heat also?
  13. I personally have used both an Intel i7 third generation, and an AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 and their performance to me it the same... When I first got my AMD I was disappointed in the quality and speed but upon inspection in my BIOS menu I was running 6 Cores not 8 Cores... so I changed it to 8 Cores and with a few other tweaks it runs the same as my Intel i7 Computer.
