Welcome to the world of marketing. Be thankful you don't live in Eastern Europe.

Looks like the release date is slipping to 13th December. Cutting it a little fine for Christmas.
    Smells like bs.
So strong that AMD release the HD 6870 to all but kill HD 5850 sales stone dead, while HD 5870 sales have been sluggish for some time- hardly surprising given the pricing compared with the 5850 (and now the 6870).
Newegg shows only 5 of 11 HD 6870 SKU's in stock- the volume part of the deal must be AIB partner specific. Prices seem to be trending upwards as well.
So, as far as AMD are concerned, no component shortages, and the GTX 580 launch/performance level are definitely NOT the causes for the delay.......m'kay

A guide to pricing on these cards...
Overclockers.uk (see post #69) informed its forum members that the 6970 will be a £400 (inc tax) part, while the 6950 will be priced at £300.
For comparison, the etail Overclockers.uk site lists the GTX 580 starting at £430 and GTX 480 at £294 (likely to be the GTX 570's approximate price point also)
