Apple claims Samsung violates Siri patents with Google Now

Um.... doesn't GOOGLE make Google now..? What makes it possible for apple to sue Samsung?? Google now is kinda baked into Android, Samsung didn't put it there....

Because a patent is a right to sue to stop others from using the invention. I can see their point in that Samsung is using the technology, therefore, Samsung is infringing on crApple's patent.

However, I personally think this is one more sign of the beginnings of the end of crApple. Since they can no longer steal ideas from others, they have to resort to suing for unauthorized use of what they have left.

Maybe they're just going after Samsung because it will be easier to get a win against a foreign company. Then, once they establish Google Now violates their patents by beating Samsung, they can go after Google easier too.

Apple and Blackberry alike, stop with the b*tching and develop as fast as you patent/complain about every-little-thing. Then again there's also USA going after ThePirateBay and Kim DotCom. Oh how you praise your litigation system waaay out of your jurisdictions.

Yeah.. well.. this is apple we are talking about.. Here we thought Walmart was bad... in comes apple.. lol

good news though, I've turned 2 friends away from iphone in support of the galaxy s3 or 4 (one just bought the s3 and the other the s4)

You're either going to embrace "freedom, justice, and the American way", or we're going to drone strike your sorry a**es until you do.

(That of course was satire, should there have been any ambiguity).

There is buckets of prior art on voice search, Star Trek springs to mind. Anyway android had voice control before apple bought Siri

For all we know they are growing one now.
Hopefully they're using DNA from when he was alive. The recombinant type, especially when laced with frog DNA, is liable to produce a hermaphroditic super version of the Steve-ster, "able to switch sexes in a single bound".

He will likely be fondly known to his (or her?), inner circle as, "Frankensteve", or possibly, "Jurassic Jobs"......

^^ That's outright disgusting and disrespectful! ^^.

I'd like to pretend I have the common decency to be ashamed of myself for that, but I'm not anywhere close to that level of civility! In fact, I'm pretty damned proud of it.

Yeah so true. I'm a jazz trumpet player, and in the past year I've been working on my soloing a lot. The only way to get really good at soloing is to listen to the best players in the world, and copy their licks. If music were like the tech world, I'd probably get my butt sued big time for all the copying I've done. But the cool thing about music is that even though people copy each other all the time, they take what they copied, and then make it their own in some unique way. It's just so stupid how in the tech world, now people can't even improve on an older patented idea without getting sued. It has to be something completely new. It's like somebody invents an orange. Back then you could invent an orange, but in a different colour and be fine, but now it has to be something completely different, like a banana or pear. Anything with any resemblance to an orange = sued. Now while people are still able to improve on ideas and sell, I have a feeling that's where everything is heading. A business has to reinvent the wheel everytime so they won't get sued for selling it if another business has something similar.

I agree. If Apple has a problem with Google Now, they should take it up with Google. Samsung just includes the app in their devices. They didn't create it, Google did. This is just more evidence that Apple has a hard-on for taking down Samsung. Apple's really starting to look like a whiny kid.

I kinda wish everybody would stop supplying Apple with parts and labor. Let them build their own fabs, and hire their own underage former Nike sneaker assemblers. At least they might go away and play quietly and be out of everyone's hair for a bit.

That way, when employees start committing suicide jumping out of dormitory windows, it will shine a light on them, instead of them saying, "that darn Foxconn isn't treating their employees well at all"!

And then Foxconn should patent their suicide nets right away, in case it turns out that Apple needs to use them.

"Universal interface for retrieval of information in a computer system." Is this not exactly what Windows Explorer and Search is and has been for say, 25 years? How do they have a patent for something so freaking vague, again Apple with their absurd patents they must be bribing for. It's really too bad the people who make up the masses who buy Apple products unknowingly of these BS lawsuits, all the teenage Girls and people desperate to fit in with those teenage girls. But this will change, Apple has been neglecting to innovate their products and instead limit the competitions ability to innovate through the USPO. But the US doesn't have jurisdiction everywhere on earth and hopefully Samsung will realize that sooner than later and just pull their product off US shelves so the rest of the world can continue to actually ENJOY innovative products. The US can keep their Cr'Apple.
