"Application has failed to start" after installing Metro 2033

after installing metro 2033 i got this message when to trying to open the game Application has failed to startbecause the application configuration is incorrect

i used eventviewer and i got this sidebyside on my os xp

Help i have been siting on that chair for 19 hours trying to solve this problem.
note:i don't get the same message in windows 7 but the game won't work just closing up after a while

but just give some time until i get some sleep it's 8 am and i havn't sleep yet
