Well, 19A for your setup should be good. The X300 card doesn't require too much power, so you're fine.

BTW, check the Everest program again, and now look out for the video card's temperature.
Also, when "gaming", aim a desk fan to the computer, especially for the video card, and see if that helps.

Certain X300 models don't even require extra power do they? And yes, my X300 does get slightly hot from use (although, my secondary computer also has a prescott next to it).

Yeah, they don't require the extra power connection. If the X800GTO doesn't require it, now imagine the X300.

OMG, cmon , now i have to aim a damn fan to the vid card if want to play! is it the only way? and why the card is overheating? i dont get it

i know what the problem is, the problem lays in the drivers, because yesterday i was trying to play and suddenly the machine crashed, but this time an error message poped-up saying that the display driver crashed and the card was reseted.
i have the latest drivers, what is the problem here?

my pc is P4 3.00 Ghz, 512 ram, ATI radeon x300 256mb (PCI-E)

Hello yebby and welcome to TS.

You could try to run Memtest86, and let it run for at least 8 passes. If it fails on any test, maybe the RAM is defective or incompatible.
That could cause lockups.

Also, take a look at your PSU. How many amperes (A) does it have on the +12V? Check the sticker attached to it.
