  1. Just wondering how much bandwidth browsing the internet takes up. Basically average stuff like viewing web pages, emailing, and light video (youtube) watching. My sister is going to be living with me for a while, and she wants to connect to my network, but i already have 3 computers on it. I do heavy gaming (xbox live) and pc gaming. I have 6mb cable internet speed but i am still worried i will be lagging out of my games. My other options would be upgrading to 12 mbs and making her pay the difference or simply telling to get her own service. Thanks.

usually, the impact is the other way; gaming impacts email/browsing

Agreed. My mom gets pissed at me for gaming while she is trying to download things or read email. Only thing that you should make sure she doesn't do its download music. Those P2P programs are real bandwidth hoggers.

thanks! i will take that into consideration. Is their anyway to set bandwidth allocation for specific computers on your network? For example only allow maybe 250 kbs/s for her?
