    Help needed please :)

    Hey guys,

I have a problem with my pc. For some reason when i boot it up i get no problems untill Windows should appear. I get a Black screen when i should have my desktop.

My pc specs are as follows:

    Amd Duron 1.2ghz
    GeForce 2
    256 MB Ram
    40 GB HD

Could this be a graphics card problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That seems to be a problem with Geforce 2 cards. I have had the same problem before. I basically had to install XP to get my system to work correctly. With 2000 I could get to Windows but then my screen would go black. XP didn't have the same problem. So if it is an option to install XP then you might want to try that.

I'm not 100% sure why this happens at the moment though, but your not the only one that has had this problem :).

No, it isn't the card, at least in my case it wasn't.

There is an issue with Win 2000 and AGP on via chipsets. there is a patch to resolve the problem it is at the AMD web site.

That might work if I had a VIA chipset :p

well if your lucky enough not to have a via chipset you dont need it. LOL
