Blue Screen (of Death)

I have noticed numerous threads have been made addressing this particular issue, yet the tips and solutions suggested in said threads did not really fix my 0x0000007E error, so I thought I'd better make a post detailing the specifics of the issue at hand.

The following is the message I get when I turn on my laptop:

    *** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF77756A2, 0xF7C84AE8, 0xF7C847E4)
    *** sptd.sys - Address F77756A2 base at F7741000, DateStamp 47cf3bb9

The blue screen occurs whenever I attempt to enter Windows. I get to the part where I have the option to choose between normal and Safe-Mode Windows, after which the blue screen shows, the systems reboots and the whole thing repeats itself.

I have tried running chkdsk /r to locate and fix the nature of the error, but after each scan session a message is received stating that chkdsk has found 1 or more incorrectible errors.

    My Laptop:

    IBM ThinkPad T42

    WIndows XP PRO
    Pentium M 1,7 GHz
    1 GB RAM
    80 GB Harddisk
    ATI Radeon (32MB) graphic card

    Thank-you in advance,
    XDTP
