Brand New Machine with Vista

I own a brand new Dell 531 with Vista home addition. This thing takes 15 minutes to boot up, crashed half the time, will not run a DVD, if it does run the DVD it will crash 10 minutes into the movie, and a whole host of other weird problems. Dell support has been great but they want to reformat the hard drive and re-install Vista.

I'm not opposed to starting all over again.., I just find it hard to believe that a brand new system would be delivered this way.
