Hi guys, hope you can help me fix my BSOD and help keep me sane
I'm running:
XP Pro
Athlon XP 2800 CPU
ASUS A7N8X Motherboard
1024MB DDR RAM (333)
Radeon 850x Series GFX Card
I thought the problem was GFX related, changed between my Radeon card and a Nvidia card but it still happens, whether I'm playing a game or on the desktop, it just seems to be completely random.
After the first BSOD after a new XP install, windows boots to the desktop and displays the error "Windows recovered from a serious error".
I turned automatic reboot on error off and the BSOD displays
MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION
STOP: 0x0000009c
Microsoft suggests disabling BIOS caching/shadowing which I've done and checking RAM stabilty which I've also done with the bootable memtest program.
I also debugged my minidumps and was pointed to a probable error with ntoskrnl.exe but I'm not sure what to do about that.
I've tried re-installing XP, updating all my drivers ,underclocking my CPU, deleting page files, defragging, running chkdsk, changing ram slots etc but I just cant find a solution.
Can anyone shed some much needed light on my problem please?
I hope so!
Thanks in advance for your kind help,
Dan.
