Can a program change your BIOS?

  1. I, of course, had my computer set to boot from the hard drive.
My son was playing a computer game and the computer went all nutty. I got an error message that said "NLDR is missing". After fiddling around trying to get it to work, I went into BIOS and seen that my booting order had been changed. I changed it back and everything was fine.
Is it possible that a program of some sort had changed my boot order?

Unlikely, unless you have a program named "My son"....
Some programs can make a temporary BIOS-change, but that change disappears at the next power-down.
    Best startup-sequence is 1)Floppy, 2)CD, 3)HD

Thanks for your reply, and the info on the start up sequence.

It is possible for programs to alter BIOS, after all that's how they're updated.
