Can PC2100 be used on a computer that needs PC3200?

  1. i have a desktop that uses pc3200 but have some pc2100. can i use the pc2100 on the computer?

    usually not backwards compatible like that
    other way around sometimes
    IE:
    machine uses up to 2100 can sometimes put in 2700 it will clock slower
    I have machine with 400 mhz of memory in it ,and it only clocks at 266 cause thats the motherboard controller specs
