I want 2 know if I cann take the hd drive from a pc that works and put it in one that does not have a os on it 2 make it work on the one without the os? :suspiciou

If you set the drive with the OS as the primary master it should work but the drive with the OS also has the motherboard drivers from the other computer and that can cause problems and even keep the compuer from booting.

ok thanks does it matter about the motherboard if they are both gateway pc's?

If the PCs have the same motherboard, there is no problem whatsoever. But if they have different chipsets (e.g. one is VIA, the other is nVidia or SIS) then you might run into problems.
Before you make the switch, downlaod all the motherboard drivers from the manufacturer's website (or from the PC's motherboard CD).
