One thing that bothers me with UD is the inexistence of 3rd party tools.

With SETI, you could use applications like SETI Driver which gave you many options such as :

- Running two processes ( for Dual CPU rigs because SETI isn't multi-threaded )

- Logging results & analysis stats in an Exell file

- Caching work-units ( downloading more then one unit at a time allowing to crunch for the next five days without connecting for example )

If the UD server happens to be down for maintenance or anything of the such, you can't upload your results or download any new units. It doesn't happen very often but often enough to have a caching possibility.

Why don't you contact them via e-mail expressing these concerns and perhaps they will be addressed? Stranger things have happened....

Arris - that's why I post the links the way I do for our stats - it's more accurate.

Ah.. I see. But then its not stats for the Techspot Team as such :)
Although since I am running this on the PC I am working on the reported figures will demonstrate how little work I actually do :D

Arris - you are right. It didn't hit me until I thought about your post for a couple of days, but the stats that I keep linking everyone to represents all the work they've ever done for the project - not the work they've done since they've been on the Techspot Team. Since your team generated points don't travel with you when you change teams the links I was posting are inaccurate. The link you posted would be the most accurate for our team.

Hey Julio, how about something like this on the front page? A news post? I think that may attract some of the people to both the forums and the team.

You mean I got something right???
Wow... ;)

Well guys, we have broken past 10,000th place on all stats for UD Ligandfit (Cancer). We are also about to break a year of total CPU time. 19 current members - things are looking good. We're producing almost 50 units/day now as well. We're movin' on up - to the east side.

I've just been leaving it running on one of my machines full time. Its not my most killer rig (in fact, its a Duron) but its better than nothing and its been churning away CPU cycles for a bit now....

That's what I do with my laptop, when I don't have it in class. It just chugs away.

And I agree that it is for a good cause.:)

Heh, looks like I'm number 23 - and I'm catchin some of you up quickly :D .

Eat my dust Serrano Family, DigitAlex, Mictlantecuhtli, MYOB, Vassil3427, Juan Sep & Morel142!!

Bah. UD doesn't like my "meager" 256MB of RAM  and my 28k :dead:

Other than that...

I don't think it's points that really matter. Results are more important.

Where do you find this at. I looked around the site the other day but didnt' find anything.

I think I am just too lazy to look hard, so if you could please point me in the right direction I would appreciate it :)

Try clicking the "eat my dust spliffmeister" link. If that's what you mean. You can sort them by names, or points, or whatever.

I think there is no Unix client for UD, or am I wrong?

In another subject, I seem to be doing quite well, at least sorting by results. I installed a new CPU/mobo to my machine a couple of weeks ago, now 2.53GHz P4 which seems to be helping a bit (vs. XP 1600+), getting results much faster than before however the detected Realtek LAN card is rated 35 by the UD client (I'm on a somewhat crappy, dial-up alike, 64k cable connection), so I'm getting kinda short of points... getting results fast but with a low rated machine (121 overall) - if you look how points are being calculated then you know that's a bad thing, heh... :blackeye:

I'm leaving my machine turned on 24/7 ever since I joined UD, are you guys doing the same?

My machine is on 24/7 but not running UD that much, processor runs too hot to keep it on during the day. Although now the weather is much colder and today I've been able to run UD and still have my processor temp lower than its normal idle temp, too bad I have to wear a sweatshirt and a jacket in my house :). Anyway I expect to be running it more now that its cold here.

Just joined the UD team, under 3DS_GeForce. Hopefully my Celery 700 should be more than reasonable enough for helping out. :grinthumb
