Cannot open folder options, can only run selected programs, cannot run task manager

Hey,

I have recently had a major issue concerning my computer HP and Windows XP Home Edition. I am not sure whether it is a virus or just a windows issue. I cannot run task manager, regedit, run and I have some difficulties opening executible programs .exe. I have CA Internet Security Suite 2007 installed and ran a spyware/virus check. It came up with Disable Task Manager Reg Entry as spyware. I tried to download various recommended virus removers such as SpyBot S+D but I have troubles opening them-I try running the program but will not work. I also tried to uninstall/reinstall CA Antivirus-this was unsuccessful "you do not have sufficient priviliges to install or uninstall Ca Personal Firewall. I would really appreciate any help at all as I am not a computer expert/extremely savvy.

There is an updated instruction for running the malware cleaning and attaching the logs. Please see this:

Follow the directions, run the programs and attach all of the logs when through. You may want to restart the thread in the Security forum.
