Stick with the 2.4GHz wifi as it's better that the 5GHZ in this case. Consider a range extender or access point to boost the signal to other portions of the house.

Having worked with shortwave radio, this is a sure sign ofAll our phone calls have bad reception and dropped calls. Our laptop shows great connection with all bars strong but we can't log on to the Internet however I have no problem with my apple iPad. As an after thought, even our xm radio in our vehicle doesn't work until we pull away from the building.
