Based on this, looks like your computer isn't the problem, which is good news. Have you tried changing the router's DNS server setting to see if that does anything?

When he returns for the laptop, tonight or maybe tomorrow, I'll ask him if he knows how to do such unless someone here knows, thank you.

Typically the address for the router is 192.168.1.1. What's the make & model?

I suppose it doesn't hurt to try. You will very likely lose all custom settings (such as port forwarding, wireless config, etc.) when you reset the router.

So you have a modem supplied by your phone/cable company, and you connected a router to it? Can you connect the modem directly to your computer? If so, try that and see if you can get the video streaming. If it doesn't work then it might be something your ISP is doing and nothing can be done or there might be settings in the modem that can be changed. I'm not familiar this type of setup. I have one device which is a modem/router combo.

I have no idea what the set up is. I just got curious & googled "How to reboot a router" & that is some of what came up.
In a prior situation I had at a different apartment, I had to un plug the router/modem I think it was, because the ISP cut out.
I had the ISP help on the phone then. Definetely over my head but the more times I have to do it,the more I learn.
Thanks again for your help & one last thought.I think. Any chance a MS monthy patch could be affecting it?
I moved in here on the 2nd of July & had no problems streaming it till it stopped as I mentioned earlier in this thread & then it again suddenly quit around Aug/Sept:confused: & nothing since then.

It's possible. But since your friend's laptop is experiencing the same problem, it might not be a Windows issue.

Cool. Live news not streaming now, guess I'll check it out some other time. But looks like they changed it to Flash video instead of using Windows Media Player. I wonder what the problem was before. Oh well, what matters is that you can watch it now.
