Can't uninstall AVG6 Antivirus to download McAfee.(missing shell.dll file)

I recently acquired a Trojanhorse Dialer virus & can't get rid of it. I want to download McAfee Antivirus, but I can't do that until I uninstall AVG6. I've tried uninstalling, & even went to add or remove programs, but it says it can't uninstall because a shell.dll file is missing. What are my options???? I've tried everything I can think of & now I'm desperate.

So...lets get this straight you've got spyware on your machine (trojanhorse dialler) and you wanna change anti virus solutions because AVG cant remove what it isn't supposed to remove? Wierd to say the least...;)
Spybot Search and destroy or AdAware would be more suited to the task.

BTW dont use McAfee in preference to AVG, you'll find it takes a great bite out of whatever sys resources you have! AVG is a darned good freebie and a lot less sys hungry.

I just had the same problem.
I uninstalled AVG6 by going to run-cmd (dos prompt)

Navigate to the AVG6 directory
(cd "\program files\grisoft\avg6"

type
"setup.exe /uninstall"
