I have bought a Dell OptPlex computer in Japan and all the software and help menus is all in Japanese.

It has a Philips CDRW/DVD CDD5263 Drive and I tried recording to a DVD for the 1st time yesterday but couldn't.

Can anyone more computer savvie tell me; (not hard)

1 Can I record to DVDs on this drive? (I thought I could?)
2 Is Nero 6 compatible with it?
3 Any advice at all

many thanks

That drive is a combo drive that can read and write cds but can only read DVDs.

The Philips CDRW/DVD CDD5263 is what is known as a combi drive.

It will read/write cdr/rw`s but it only reads DVD`s

So, no you cannot write DVD`s on it.

As to whether Nero is compatible with your drive.

In Nero click on the recorder tab, and select choose recorder. If under the image device ther is listed an atapi device, then nero recognises your cd-rw drive.
