Changing program assocations in 98se

I am trying to change program associations in 98se (i.e what app. opens what type of file). Any ideas ?

In Explorer, rightclick on the file that you want to open. Select Open with...
A box pops up, where you can select which program to use. Bottom left is a square that you can tick, to ALWAYS open with that program.

No such luck

It is a lovely day for a Guinness, but if it was that easy iIwouldn't need help. I think that works in 2000 but in my OS (98SE) thers no "open with", only "open".

Sorry, I do run W2K. In Explorer, try to go to Tools/Folder Options/File Types.
Select the extension you want, then hit the Change button.
Not sure if this is the same in W98.
