Inactive Computer freezes during virus scan

Hello again,

Trying to fix a work computer this time that my co-worker continues to infect on a weekly basis before she gets something that will spread over the network and infect all of us...

The computer is freezing completely in normal boot mode after a few minutes, regardless of activity. In safe mode the computer freezes only while running an AVG scan. Should I install Avira so I can run a scan or is the incomplete AVG log file going to be enough to go off? Thank you!

Really just need to know if I should or should not install Avira/Avast before moving onto the Malwarebytes/GMER?

Should I install another AV software, or just move onto Malwarebytes?


edit: Never mind, computer is giving me a disk read error on boot-up now. Not sure how that happened because I didn't run anything yet. Sigh. IT guy is coming to wipe the drive and start from scratch. mods can consider this thread closed.
