ther is a massege in the event viewer aftre restart about the rison of restsrt that say: The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was C0000005 from line 44 of d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error .

This is a catch-all error that results from many different problems.
You likely have a bad Windows or Service Pack 2 install, software corruption, infestation by malware, a bad hard drive, bad ethernet card or drivers. Figgering out which one is always the problem.
You can often fix this with a removal and reinstall of the Service Pack 2 disc... available from Microsoft for $3.95 shipping. Or if your Windows has Service Pack 2 built in, run a full version of Windows XP in R or Repair mode.
You should also run a good antispyware program as well as antivirus.
