OK, I fixed the problem on the windows 7 Laptop. The problem was that the HP Printer Software needed "Devices and Printers" window/thing to work properly. "Device and Printer" thing was not working properly because I had disabled a bluetooth service some time ago. After reanabling it and starting it, the "Devices and Printers" window/thing started working fine and the HP Printer Software also started working fine.

Now all I have left to solve is the problem with the XP Machines unable to connect tp the printer during software setup. Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks

hmm - - that's doubtful in my mind as I've seldomly seen bluetooth active and the Printer control was never impeded with bluetooth disabled.

BUT - - that really doesn't matter as you got it working now :)

Well, it was a bluetooth service which had been deactivated. And since my bluetooth and wireless come on together (when I switch it one using the dedicated touch button on my HP Laptop) I think it caused a problem. I'm still trying to get the XP Machine working with the printer...
