Then do you two understand that the temps cannot be lower than the air temp?

20C (CPU temp) is still colder than 25C (room temp).

So, either the room thermometer is broken, or Speed Fan still sucks.

Electrical current passing through a body with resistive properties, (a CPU for example), causes a temperature rise in that object. I'm willing to listen, really, if either one of you can explain how the OCZ "Vendetta suspends these laws of physics.

20C is not CPU. That's supposedly the individual core temps. The CPU temp, as in the BIOS, is reported at 33-34C. And the data sheet was from HWMonitor.

I didn't claim it did, as i said it is a point of reference. there are two readings for the CPU temps. as seen here (attached) the CPU temp( red arrow) is what the bios reading will give you,(and its nowhere 91F in this room) its actually 71F. the 'cpu core' core temps are what we use for reference from third party temp monitors as we cant see the bios reading while in windows. so to answer your inquiry, no we don't have a Stephen Hawking and Nikola Tesla designed HS, as I stated, its a relative reference point to judge the difference between idle and load temps, and make sure they don't get out of hand. and take steps to lower the temps if they do. as far as I know, the only way to get below ambient temps with a HS/F is to use a Peltier/TEC cooler....which BTW i am working on for my next build :p

    oops forgot the attachment

    here is the everest attachment

I don't have reds legendary patience, so try and absorb this on the first pass.

The "individual cores" are all connected to the SAME heat spreader.

As a consequence, the BIOS is reading the AVERAGE core temp.

The BIOS reading is doing exactly what I said it MUST do, showing a rise from ambient!

Since the individual CPUs are connected to the same heatspreader, the average temp reading reported by BIOS should be sufficient.

Since you don't add the CPU temps together, and I am fairly certain the BIOS is correct, then whatever crap a** hardware monitor software you're using, is off by 13 degrees Celsius, period.

This makes sense read it, at least twice.

Then it seems all hardware monitors are off by the same amount.

And relax Captain, I'm not trying to say that you're incorrect in any way. Thanks for the explanation. :)

(Patience is a great virtue!!! :p)

I still think they're all programed to make you feel good about yourself and your computer.

especially speedfan, cant even put a stake in the ground with that thing!
