Dad's computer won't start

    can you log onto safe mode with out it crashing. Or you can also get a boot cd such as UBCD4WIN

    I think he might have a memory leak, because of the high memory usage.
    In answer to your question, Yes but nothing runs.
    Also, my Dad is back from work after a week and he is blaming me, and wants me to phone up this tech guy. I've tried to fix it! Why is he blaming me?
    Should i ask him if i can get a hijackthis log?

    I have just downloaded UBCD4 and running setup now! It has loads of tools!!!!!!
    Does it run all of them at once?

    no you need an xp sp2 cd so you can create a bootable cd this will only help you recover data you will not be able to fix a bad hard drive you need to buy a new one

    all you can do is backup the documents, music, pictures and get a new hard drive

    Just to be very clear here

    You have purchased a new internal HardDrive. Yes/No
    You have installed Windows again Yes/No
    Your old faulty HardDrive is sitting on the desk Yes/No
    You still want to try to backup your old drive Yes/No
    Have you tried backing it up using an external USB HardDrive connection Yes/No
    Is there anything else I've not covered Yes/No
    Also I can't even remember if this is a Desktop or Laptop! This thread is very long
