Ddr ram

hey my motherboard manual says it can hold 2 ddr266 sticks of ram... i bought a ddr400 ram. My comp wont load up the bios/ no video... Does it matter if the ram is 266/400? Thanks

You mean, one stick 266 and one stick 400?
Very likely to get problems.
Never mix different types of memory. And 400 probably does not work on that mobo anyway.

hey thanks for replying...
I have a pcchips M811LU and a 1.8ghz amd duron :slurp: ... [HoT]... well you see I only have 1 stick of ddr ram... its a ddr400... the computer first started up fine (bios screen, setup) then just poof, shut down... now it turns on with no video... THEN i read my mobo manual and it said "supports the following memory speed: DDR SDRAM: PC2100/PC1600" so im guessing its a ram problem right? puke:

Yea....seems like RAM to me try using the recommended DDR speed.

ok cool, but the computer still started up with it tho... anyhoo i think it was fluke, so i better get some ddr266.

FYI, the 400 RAM is PC3200, well above your specs.

Alright so if pc2300 is "above" my specs, does that mean it can burn out my system? :hotouch:

I ordered some ddr266 ram already... now waiting :darth:

No, it just won't work. (and its PC3200, not PC2300!)
