 Hello again!

I was hoping that maybe Rustam would help me or possibly someone else here, but all I seem to be getting in PMs are other people spamming me to pay $100 for the password removal. :suspiciou

I am not a person who expects something for nothing, but LIKE Slayor, I believe it is ridiculous and very greedy for people to charge these high prices for what they most definitely got for free from elsewhere. Without help from great forums like this one, we are left with extortionists forcing us to give money for what truly isn't moral or right.

I have always believed in forums for the help they provide, and I have always tried to return the favor by providing as much of my help at forums. Again...Rustam or another senior member here, please help us 595B seekers here with this so far seemingly impossible answer without a heavy cost.
Thanks Again for allowing me to be heard! :)

infiel2001,
no local computer shops there? Are you talking about having to use a credit card at a local shop or for on-line solutions?

Rustam hasn't been around. I don't know if he has been banned or what. If you have a locked notebook it is useless to you, right? As far as I know, there are 3 ways of clearning Bios and hard drive passwords on Dell laptops.

1. Removing the main and CMOS batteries
2. Installing and using a software password generator program
3. Using a paperclip to short pins on a bios chip located on the motherboard

The posted links to possible password removal help don't work for you? I have seen links to 595B help. I cannot provide anything more

Thanks for the reply Tmagic650 but the first didn't work, the second doesn't seem possible for the 595B so far as I can find without Rustam or others and the third, well I fear doing because I cannot find a picture of the exact location of the bios chip (I don't want to fry the motherboard).
Thanks for the help! :grinthumb

So is anyone helping these users out? I'm in the same boat. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not looking to pay I'm looking for the person out there that contributes to the forums with a helping service as they would look to to the forums for help themselves. Without help from others the forums would be pretty dead.IMO Thanks in advance if anyone helps out.

Dell Bios Password word Lock problem

I bought a refurbished Dell D600, 60 GB laptop running WinXP SP2 .. It has a legitimate winxp license but came with no Recovery /Driver CDs .

A few days ago experienced blue "Kernel data inpage error "– and basically the advice was "if 1st time you see this just reboot machine" so I did … approx 1 hour later happened again – so followed "if seen this before follow steps below"

Up popped Dell screen effectively telling me "Primary HDD was protected by password authenticated … system and that I could not access disk without the password" . BUT I had not set one had only set user acct pwords !

I tried rebooting many times and could NOT get past this screen , in the end left it a few hours. to search on web for some more suggestions… and contact reseller etc..

The reseller company I bought it from again confirmed they had definitely set NO passwords, which is exactly what I had been told when I purchased it, so having searched on web and seen zillions of entries from people in same situation ( saying Dell could help with an override password which will unlock bios with master password generated from service tag ended with -595B) phoned Dell Customer Serv.

Initially DELL were happy to help I explained my situation and they were confident it could be fixed no probs.. They asked for my serv tag- but the label on underside of laptop was impossible to read, so then they asked for another no (COA I think) also impossible to read that label so we used (Fn & F2 power on) key got into setup found my serv tag.. which ends in 595B..

BUT next Dell explained although this was now a personal use laptop it HAD previously been a company laptop and they absolutely needed to know the name of the company the laptop was last registered to.. So of course I gave the company details where I bought it from, and said I could send them copy of proof of purchase too – nope they wanted the one BEFORE that .. of course I don't know this information..

Without this info Dell could not give me the password to override the problem..arrrgh !!! They tried to do some diags but Laptop prompted for installation CD – which as you know I don't have … Dell were concerned my HDD could be facing an imminent failure.. and told me not to turn it off .. and to go get the company info from the reseller and call them straight back..

Again I called the resellers to ask for Company info , it transpired they deal with a clearing house – whose job it is to wipe the laptops and ensure they have no bios or pwords etc BEFORE selling them to the reseller.. and they of course "have no records for individual machines" .. so now I have a laptop & cannot access bios and am reluctant to use the "paper clip method" to short circuit the chip .. as detailed here: sorry had to remove the lin in order to post this

Again I searched on web and found some excellent sites & various Dell Bios password finder tools that were getting other users out of similar situations … BUT because my HDD Tag ends with 595B and this is one of the ones that just won't work with the various tools I found.. having read this info still tried for myself and indeed it does not work.. I found ONE site spunlock.com/ that said it could help with 595B tags– BUT they want $95 or approx £50 to give me the password.. Which I cannot afford..
Some good news – many hours later just tried booting my laptop and it worked so laptop is running again BUT just cannot get into the Bios …

I really hope I can find you and that can help me out

Many thanks in advance for your time
