Just started having this problem today...
My toolbar, and my desktop items keep reseting about every 5 seconds.
it goes away for about 5 seconds then comes back.. it just does that over and over again

Specs:

OS: Windows XP Home
Memory: 3 Gigs

Edit: Something else that I just noticed I opened up my task manager , and everytime the desktop resets it removes Explorer.exe , then it reappears when the icons , and tool bar reappears.

Any help would be appreciated.

Explorer.exe is automatically restarted by the system when ever it goes down.

The cause of it going down is most often spyware.

Try starting in Safe Mode with Networking and running SpybotSD and Ad-Aware.

If that fails go HERE and do the full Techspot treatment.

You could also just try a "clean boot" as a troubleshooting measure -

Go to msconfig start up and uncheck everything except firewall, then restart.

Then,if necessary go back to msconfig click on the Services, click "Hide all Microsoft services"

then uncheck the ones that are left, then restart computer.

thanks for the response Po Girl... I just restored to an earlier date , and everything seems to be fixed. I'm still running Spybot , and antivirus just to make sure I don't have anything I don't want on there.
