Do I need a new DVD Drive???

Hello.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if I need a new Optical Drive.
If so, which type?

Lately, the drive has not been reading my game disks properly when I insert them...
And I also read somewhere that you should get a new drive once a year?

You could try a lens cleaner I suppose. But I wouldn't go buy one just for that purpose. Also check to make sure your cables haven't worked loose.

There is no 'replace yearly' thing for optical drives, just replace them when they wear out. They are pretty inexpensive now anyway.

Cable seems fine...
The Drive is slow, really noisy and either errors out or just doesn't read the disk.

IF I were to buy a new drive.....Is there any specific type that I need, or can I just get any?

Any will do just fine, you should be able to find them for around (or cheaper) than $35 AUD.
