I game at 1680x1050, corsair 650 watt ps, my processor is an i5-750 lynnfield and I have 8gb's of ram. I was wondering if I could handle the newest games with all settings on high with my 4870?

I'd have to agree with the previous poster. While no longer a top of the line card the 4870 is still on par with most current mid range graphics cards (it's roughly equivalent to a 6770[the 4870 is a little slower but there still pretty close]). It will almost certainly play newer games although you may not be able to max out all of the settings, you should be able to use settings that will provide decent visuals. Try it If you don't like the results you will need to go to at least a 6870 (preferably a 6950 or 6970) to notice a significant difference.

your cpu and ram can handle all the new games with high setting so if you have a poor performance in the games you need to upgrade your graphics card to 6870 or better
