It has been almost a month since gbhall and luvr have responded to my questions and I have not yet thanked them.
The computer would consume all my time if I allowed it to, so I restrict my tinkering to one or two days a month.
The advice and tips you provided, especially the advice on getting Win 98 to load, has been most helpful. Sorry it took me so long to get to try it out!
