Thanks, NetCablesPlus, youv'e been great help, and I no I must sound a bit dependant but can you tell me where Live Help is located? Also, will they have the power to help me and make the seller comply? Cheers
garbledegook messages are usually foreign. I tend not to buy from non-english speaking countries to avoid transaction problems due to language barriers.
The problem is you can't block last second bidders - some of whom are newbies. Generally I don't allow newbies to bid on my items. I have had too many issues with bad feedback from newbies who don't understand computers or how ebay works. But I cannot monitor ebay all the time nor block them completely. On small ticket items I really don't mind, but on larger priced items it becomes a real issue.
Happy to have been of slight assistance. On the main (US) eBay page at ebay.com, you should see a link to the right of the main search field right near the top of the page. Note that you may not be seeing it because you may be logging into the UK site and that may not offer this link. I have never logged onto the UK site. Just to to ebay.com and you will see the link. Whether you can use it as a UK member of eBay is an interesting question. eBay has the power to cancel sales, ban sellers and/or bidders and just about anything else that they want to do with any auction. However, the only guarantee that I can give you is that if you do nothing more, eBay will not help you.
Just about all of my items are small ticket on eBay. (My most expensive cable -- a 100-foot Cat 6 Ethernet Crossover cable -- is $25.58 plus shipping of $9.99) I only block bidders after a bad experience (or signs that the person will eventually evolve into a bad experience.) I do wonder how effective the Blocked Bidders list actually is, given eBay's lousy auction technology, in general. To date, I have not automatically banned newbies (which is a Sellers Preference option, of course) but that could change. What do you sell on eBay? Sounds like technology...
Me ? Well here are the links to all of the auctions I have put on latley... Note I am just starting off with my part time ebay buisness and things have not been a problem thus far however I have had to report a few non paying bidders. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200088820480&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200088541498&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200088552007&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200088541071&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200087876122&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200084427943&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200084385659&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200084666814&rd=1&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MESO:IT&viewitem=&item=200087552349&rd=1&rd=1
do the instant message thing i have done the im thing for a complaint or two. someone hacked into my acct a couple years ago, and i talked with ebay im and got it taken care of. just find a time when you will be at your comp for a couple hours so you can wait in line - then they work through it pretty well with you. plus like most of these online im chat help systems, they will email you the transcript of the chat session.
Well My only 2 bad feedbacks where from somone that won an auction and the items got damaged (I had a soda accident on my test bench while testing products) and I contacted him and told him I could not ship. He was mad, harrassed me and left negative feedback. The second guy I sold a 8800GTS to in Canada and it got held up in customs. Not my fault. However I did forget to send him the tracking number before I went on a 4 day weekend which was my fault. But those first 10 feedback that I have on my account dont cound for the 12 auctions that just ended. I should be at about 24 possitive feedback by monday making that stuff that happened 7 months ago a thing of the past. I havent had a problem selling stuff even with those comments on my record as people do see my replies to the feedback. Its not like im ripping people off. I wouldnt have an ebay account anymore if that was the case. (Not saying thats what you where impling either ) For the amount of money I have been getting this computer hardware for I only really need to make a $200 profit on most auctions which hasnt seemed to be a problem. For most of my OEM bundles I am not expecting it to go for $20 less then they can buy retail stuff for. The amount of money that I have been getting for my stuff is where it shouold be in an ebay type market. But I agree any amount of negative feedback can hurt you, it depends on the circumstances though. But I personally would be more confident in buying from somone with 100% feedback. The only other thing that you need to concider is even if the person has 100% feedback but with all of his sales coming from books or cosmetics ect ect, then all of the sudden he starts selling computer parts....I would feel weird about his credibility and have doubts that he knows what he is selling. I would however feel more comfortable buying from somone with 98% feedback that only deals in computer hardware and related. Just my opinion......If your buying high dollar stuff of any origin make sure you buy it from somone that knows or atleast you think has a good idea about what he is selling and how to carefully package and handle the items. I myself even though everything is Brand New I still slap everything to a motherboard and make sure it atleast posts before I put it on its way to a customer just to cut loose ends. If it doesnt work when it gets there I can atleast 50% assume the customer fried it or 50% assume that it got damaged in shipping.
