Floppy Disk Error (40)

I built my P4 in Dec 2004 without any problems and it has been running perfect until yesterday I started getting floppy disk error 40 at boot.
The bios sees it, windows xp pro sees it, but when I try to access it it does not find the drive. (the system boots with no problem)
The computer has not been opened for a long time. Anybody has an idea what could be the problem!!!

Computers need to be cleaned every once in a while. Use a can of compressed air.

Or the flat cable has become loose...

The computer is clean. Plus I changed the cable many times yesterday and the floppy was replaced with 2 other floppies, but the problem is still there.

Floppy drives go bad...usually from lack of use. Cheap solution try one of those floppy head cleaners from Radio Shack...other solution replace the drive, also inexpensive.
