Fusion Drive: The return of the Apple Tax

    Earlier this year we looked at two popular models in the Apple Mac lineup to see if the "Apple Tax" argument remained relevant. As it turned out, it wasn't as bad as one could imagine, quite the contrary...

    But you see, the devil is in the details. I wanted to bring up to discussion the outrageous price Apple wants to charge for their "Fusion Drive". The technology in itself is nothing new, but Apple has added some bells and whistles to the description and marketing of it.

    Well, Apple is coupling 1TB or 3TB hard drives with 128GB of flash storage. The cost? $250.

    Considering a highly regarded SSD like the Crucial m4 128GB sells for $100 and the 256GB model is $200. Apple's asking price is a real steal.
