Can you tell me how to get there
Ok, I found out how to get there, but there is no X or way to close it that I can see of.
Ok, I did as you suggested & saw nothing about Google Chrome & also found no way to exit that so I was forced to shut down. So I'm guessing I'll learn to live with it too.:)

You can disable the services.msc for Googleupdate. Does not need to be running as service. Just allow it to update through your firewall.

Google Update Service (gupdate) - disable
Google Update Service (gupdatem) - disable

There is a start-up one the runs also in the background. I have that disabled also..
GoogelUpdateTaskMachineCore - removed or disabled (optional but why have it running always)
