ALL caps is good to emphasize a point. BUT IF THE WHOLE SENTENCE IS CAPS, it gets irritating really fast. Unless the whole sentence is being emphasized, such as warnings.... Haven't seen too many posts posted in all caps yet.
Sorry Mict for not posting the correct length . But yes, I think that we should be stricter with people who write like that (unless they have a legitimate reason why they speak like that).
It is less of a problem now than it was a few months ago. No doubt it still happens and will continue, but I become very displeased with the person I see writing like that. General discouragement from all members is the best way to prevent the problem from becoming more widespread. Self policing in moderation is better than having a handful of mods trying to fix every problem.
I know that there was a member who was banned for purposely disobeying TechSpot Rules....one of them being from his use of grammar and speaking. I won't say his name, but let him serve as an example to all of the members here that this can happen to you. Also, that darn FireFox Spellchecker is amazing :unch: !
One thing that that ticks me off is when people mis spell things like evga or nvidia, even Geforce (Corret way is GeForce). Another thing that disturbes me are undetailed specs. There are several ways to spell "evga". eVGA and EVGA, they have two logos. "nvidia" can also be spelled like nVidia, nVIDIA (As there logo), NVIDIA is the corporate way and NVDA is the stock way. If I could control it everybody would be as specific as I am: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz Biostar TForce 550 SE Motherboard Corsair Value Select 1GB (512MB x2) DDR2-667 RAM Maxtor Diamond Max 200GB PATA-133 HDD eVGA e-GeForce 7900 GS KO 256MB... Yeah you get the picture many people are more like (Which bugs me): AMD Athlon Gigabyte 939 Motheboard 1GB DDR Maxtor HDD geforce 7600gt
wow, you're a little insane, or close to it. People mispelling evga, or nvidia, Those are quite minor.
Honestly, if they don't have detail in their listing of specs, I think they just simply do not know -- and that's okay! For example, if someone puts "1GB DDR" in their specs, without the brand/speed/bandwidth/latency, then I'd just assume that they don't know that there are so many aspects to specify a RAM module, and leave it at that. People are here to learn, so give them a chance. When they know more and find out what their exact specs are, then I'm sure that they'll list it. However, I don't think many people know the codename of their CPU core , so I think that part would be unnecessary. A very had part of being a computer genius is being patient to those who are not as computer-savvy as yourself. Have you seen this?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diWiXvvR8HA and this is just another version, (essentially the same) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfLgGf4nskI It's a comedic way of expressing how patience is an asset for computer specialists.
Moderators note: I deleted some posts here that were detrimental to the rest of the thread and the people involved. Don't worry, if you don't know what I'm talking about then it didn't affect you and your posts are fine.
