Graphics Card that Will Fit My Computer

Man this getting difficult lol. I so if im playing on a big tv im fine right with 4870. The thing is most of the time I will be playing on a 19inch monitor, but im getting a 37 inch tv hopefully and I want to hook it up to that when friends come over and stuff and still get quality well quality better than a ps3 would get. So would I be fine with a 4870. I also want to hook it up to the tv for the blu ray movies and get real good quality out of it.

im sure if i ran another one in crossfire, it could handle it.

you should be super fine on the 19 inch,

I think im going to hold off for now until I can get the hd4870 unless i find it for a hundred dollars like the other guys did lol, but I want to by the psu now so would that modxtreme pro 500watt be enough or do I need a bigger one now.

no, graphics depend mostly on your gpu (video card)

but if your going to want to get a better card or a crossfire/SLi setup i recommend

you at least get a 650watt.

on the ati site it says that for a hd4890 500watts is enough should i still buy something more powerful, because that is the card that i want to buy now.

the 4890 can outperform the gtx 260 easily.

i say go with the 4890.

you can run the 4890 on a 500 watt, but

what if later on you want to upgrade your CPU, or you want to add another hardrive, or you get into overclocking.... (the 4890 oc'd is a monster)

plus that 700 watt is a great deal right now. you would just be paying 20 dollars more for it.

you tell em HK! thats not true at all its a preference, but ATI quality is every bit as good. and many techs will tell you they have a longer life span.

doesnt your HP have a phenom quad 9500? what are you looking for? other than a quad that ends in XX50 LOL

well the ones that ended in xx50 are the ones that had the TLB bug fix, but i suppose you could get a faster quad ie a 9750 or something, but it sounds like a video card might be a more productive option for what you want to do...if i have been understanding your needs.

So your saying my cpu is fine right. Ya i pretty much just want to play GTA4 at really good res, but i plan on playing crysis and call of duty aswell. Now if i get the hd4890 and play on a big screen tv like 52inch will the graphics be better than a ps3.

Hi ruff,
it doesn't work that way, those are frequencies and nothing in your quad is running at 8.8Ghz. in theory it can have the effect of a processor running at 8.8, but it is just that...theory. in order for that to happen it would take a process or application that made use of 100% of all four cores at 100% efficiency during the entire execution of the application, which almost never happens in computing.as well as the cores having to communicate with each other.

ok so why do the new laptops that i seen at best buy say intel dual 2 core processors at 2.1 each core a total 4.2 lol sorry for the questions im newb trying to learn a lot about computers and it all started from wanting to play gta 4 lol

what's good for the goose... ALL companies are capable of scandalous behavior. At least that's the conclusion I've come to after 60 years. But multiplying the cores? I'd like to see that too. I'd find the manager and call him on it.
