it is ruff, but that is a huge monitor. if you are going to game at those resolutions, it will become gpu starved. Mid-high end card definition keeps being moved upward. check out this GFX hierarchy chart from Tom's. they mention in the article that even the top cards (the GTX 295 and even GTX 285's in sli will offer good 2560x1600 "in most games") on a 30" monitor, not to mention a 37" monitor.

4870 might run that resolution, but I'm not sure. My brother had a 4870 and tested it against my 8800 ultra with my 30" monitor, the 4870 was about 3-5fps difference in crysis. I'd suggest at least a 4890.

ok now im wondering is that the same for ps3 the bigger the monitor the worse the graphics. Also now im wondering will my blue ray movies suffer with a bigger monitor as well with my pc if I have a hd4870.

Are you talking about a monitor or an HD TV? There's a difference.

    im talking bout hd tv

it is but thats such a high resolution,

to run games on high you would need more horsepower.

    if your going 37 inch,

    i say 4890, or 4870 X2

or at the least 2 4850s in crossfireX

oh okay, you had said monitor, a tv is a different deal

i thought it was the same thing,

    whats the difference???

lines of resolution, a tv with the same resolution of a monitor would be horrendously. expensive

thanks for the lesson, i did not know that,

so you could game nicely on a 30 inch tv with my 4770

    possibly?

Man this getting difficult lol. I so if im playing on a big tv im fine right with 4870. The thing is most of the time I will be playing on a 19inch monitor, but im getting a 37 inch tv hopefully and I want to hook it up to that when friends come over and stuff and still get quality well quality better than a ps3 would get. So would I be fine with a 4870. I also want to hook it up to the tv for the blu ray movies and get real good quality out of it.

now thats a good question Andres, i don't know if a 4770 would hold that down or not
  13. AndrestheBean Newcomer, in training Posts: 217

im sure if i ran another one in crossfire, it could handle it.

you should be super fine on the 19 inch,

im still not sure on a 37in tv

I think im going to hold off for now until I can get the hd4870 unless i find it for a hundred dollars like the other guys did lol, but I want to by the psu now so would that modxtreme pro 500watt be enough or do I need a bigger one now.
  15. ruffrider5956 Newcomer, in training Posts: 29

ok so I did the research im wondering would be better to get a power supply which has more than 500watts will the grapics look any better.
  16. AndrestheBean Newcomer, in training Posts: 217

no, graphics depend mostly on your gpu (video card)

but if your going to want to get a better card or a crossfire/SLi setup i recommend

you at least get a 650watt.

on the ati site it says that for a hd4890 500watts is enough should i still buy something more powerful, because that is the card that i want to buy now.
  19. ruffrider5956 Newcomer, in training Posts: 29

So i have been reading that ati is not the best card to get so im wondering what do you guys reccomend hd4870 or nvidia gtx 260 core 216 or hd4890.
  20. AndrestheBean Newcomer, in training Posts: 217

the 4890 can outperform the gtx 260 easily.

i say go with the 4890.

you can run the 4890 on a 500 watt, but

what if later on you want to upgrade your CPU, or you want to add another hardrive, or you get into overclocking.... (the 4890 oc'd is a monster)

plus that 700 watt is a great deal right now. you would just be paying 20 dollars more for it.
