Having problems while playing games

my computer has been acting funny ever since i built it. every time i play a game for about 3 minutes it will freeze and a second later the picture starts to jump up and down like an old tv with bad cable connection. it is really annoying i am trying to play call of duty 4 and black site area 51 and it getting on my nerves. the funny thing is that it works fine when i play vegas 2 or crysis. i tried reinstalling the latest drivers ad directx9.0c and nothing.
i am running a AMD phenom 9600 at 2.31 GHz, 2GBs of RAM, and 2x ATI HD3870 video cards with total of 1GB memory. and i am running Windows XP that is why i have directx9

Yup, this is a plain ol hardware error from a failing card... not a driver issue.
Shop early so they have it on the road to you before it gets dark.
