Hi, Yes it should work in XP, it also includes most of the main codecs, so you don't need to download them.
The program is only 8.5MB and works well with shop-bought DVD's.
when you start the program, you choose the DVD from the black screen, by using the arrow in the center....
Try it, works for me, on my old Dell desktop.
I didn't see any adverts or adware or toolbars installed on my PC, so I would say it's 'clean'.
