wait i just looked again and it doesnt even say am2

Compatible with a Socket 775 platform, the Zalman Pro works flawlessly with Intel’s Dual Core Pentium, Pentium 4, and Celeron D systems. For ultra-cool protection and aggressive styling, the Zalman CPU Cooler is the way to go.

    Hi again Gene,
I hate to be a stick-in-the-mud here, but im gonna anyway:D. please check out your temps again with a different temp monitor program. the reason i say that is because it has been very common for folks on here to report that speedfan is 10-15c below any of the rest of the programs out there, especially under load, and if your going OC,that 10-15 can be crucial. try this one.http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php. there is also CoreTemp and RealTemp. just a suggestion.

    good luck

There's an article on tom's hardware about low budget coolers, in which the ximatek won that battle. The only problem I have with it is that the bottom isnt completely flush because of the heat pipes merging into the heatsink. I like my heatsinks like Rugby, full contact.

Well it seems like it'll certainly get the job done. Go for it I say.

Alright the CPUID and Speedfan were the same.

Realtemp isnt supported by my processor

Also CoreTemp says 28C sooo who do i trust lol ones at 53c and other one is at 28c thats far off

I kinda thought so, well its probably 53c, but easy to tell. 53c is 126F and 28c is 82F, if you touch your heat sink you will be able to tell, make sure you touch the case first to discharge any static electricity, but that new cooler will take care of it cuz 53c is a really high idle temp.

I don't agree. The base is very, very flat, and the technology is called HDT for a reason. And it's no lightweight, being able to match the performance of the significantly more expensive TRUE. Check out these reviews.

I agree that the bottom is flat, if you look at a picture of the bottom of the heatsink you can see where the pipes meet the heatsink it doesnt run flush with the side. I'm not frowning upon the thing though, he works well for what it does.

Wait why do they make the black edition if its not ment for overclocking like wtf.

Also so is what you guys are saying is that i should get the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 because that seems in my price range :)
  15. LinkedKube TechSpot Project Baby Posts: 4,180   +23

yes, if that's part of your budget then go for it.

and why make a black edition of that chip, would probably just increase the prices of chips higher in the product line.

It's decent, although the Vendetta 2 is a lot better. You can get the Xigmatek for $30 on Directron though.
